One of nature’s amazing masterpieces over time is the Kapurpurawan Rock Formation, a delicately made natural art, beautiful yet fragile, an icon of Ilocos Norte
It is known for its creamy white and streamlined limestone formations which have been sculpted by different oceanic and weather forces accumulating particles deposited to the shore with the aid of gravity and time – a very long process known in science as sedimentation. It stands beautifully along the rocky coast of the municipality of Burgos. Kapurpurawan got its name from the Ilocano word “puraw,” which means “white”, the different rock formations are mostly white in color specially in broad daylight when the sun touches the natural sculpture.
The Kapurpurawan Rock Formation is just what an avid photographer would be looking for because of the magnificent view it showcases. The place is about 20 to 30-minute walk on footpath trekking or go horseback riding for more adventure instead.
